The SF Film Society / KRF Filmmaking Grant supports feature narrative films that through plot, character, theme or setting explore human and civil rights, antidiscrimination, gender and sexual identity and other social issues of our time. SF Film Society / KRF is the largest granting body for independent narrative feature films in the US. This is NOT a documentary grant.

This grant, which was established in 2009, is awarded to multiple projects in the spring and fall of each year. The SF Film Society / KRF Filmmaking Grant provides support to meaningful projects internationally that benefit and uplift the Bay Area filmmaking community in a professional and economic capacity. In addition to the cash grant, recipients receive various benefits through the SF Film Society's comprehensive and dynamic artist development programs.
