New thematic film series are being offered throughout the school year to the Bay Area educational community, providing consistent film content and encouraging long-term participation by educators and their students.
Women in Film
Each of the films in this series will focus on the experiences of women and girls around the world, with special emphasis on films made by women. In addition to the film screenings, we will also be sending many accomplished women filmmakers to visit schools, meet with students and serve as key role models for young girls interested in both business and creative careers. Read about the series.
Music As Inspiration
Each of the films in this series will emphasize the ways in which music inspires and strengthens individuals and communities in situations of tragedy, crisis or disenfranchisement. In addition to post-film discussions and interactive Q&A sessions, many of the screenings will feature live performances by the musicians featured in the films. Read about the series.
Literary Adaptation
As a complement to suggested and required reading in many language arts and English literature curricula, we provide an ongoing exploration of literature adapted to the screen. Over the past year, other films based on quality children's and young adult books that we’ve screened included Opal Dream, The Last Mimzy, Bridge to Terabithia, Freedom Writers, The Golden Compass and The Water Horse.
