Since 1957, the San Francisco Film Society has been presenting the best film and media from all over the globe, notably via the renowned annual San Francisco International Film Festival, which last year celebrated its golden anniversary.

By presenting an expansive year-round schedule of screening and special events, the Film Society gives the community the opportunity to celebrate the art of cinema and encourages an appreciation for mainstream American independent and international films. Year-round programs include new works, archival works, special series and tributes with Film Society programmers introducing the films and special guests in attendance for Q&A discussions, providing a richer, deeper context for Bay Area audiences. The Film Society membership exceeds 2,000 and is regularly contacted through weekly/biweekly emails and a bimonthly newsletter.
