OPENING NIGHT FILM
Adolescent awkwardness, reality show excess, youthful exuberance, burgeoning talent and dreams of fame collide in this highly entertaining documentary about the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in which aspiring young performers dress up in brightly colored outfits and belt out pop anthems for a chance at international stardom. The film follows the journey of four preteen singers from very different backgrounds and parts of the continent—Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Belgium—as they prepare, rehearse and finally compete in front of swooning audiences and TV cameras to win fame and honor for their home country. More than 50 years after European countries warred on the battlefield, Sounds Like Teen Spirit celebrates a cast of real kids coming together with candidly open stories in a battle of songs and sequins, singing their ten- to 15-year-old hearts out. Featuring music by the Who, ABBA, Roxy Music, Sebastian Teller, Henry Mancini and Belgium’s famous Singing Nun. Preceded by short Western Spaghetti.

Prior to the screening, celebrate with your family at the Opening Night Party.
