How do you turn a captivating idea into a viable documentary film? This intensive two-day workshop taught by three-time Emmy winner David L. Brown covers the crucial issues at every stage in the process of producing and directing a compelling documentary. Areas covered include selecting a provocative topic, researching the subject, writing a proposal, fundraising, preproduction, casting, directing, camerawork, sound, lighting, interviewing, ethics, editing and distribution. Students are encouraged to bring work-in-progress footage for feedback.
