Autumn is the time when filmmakers take stock of the film festival landscape and plan their strategy. Which festivals should you apply for? What do programmers look for? Why do good films get rejected? The sixth Film Arts Forum will take you into the decision room of Bay Area–based film festivals the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, SF IndieFest, Frameline, the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival and the San Francisco International Film Festival. Lead programmers from each festival will be on hand to take us beyond the brochures, discussing their selection process, what they’re looking for and current trends in the field. Dozens of other programmers from a range of festivals, theaters and venues will also be in attendance.

SFFS programmers Rod Armstrong and Sean Uyehara will unveil the Film Society's fall festival lineup before the panel commences.

Back by popular demand, after the presentation will be the Laptop Shop. Screen your clips, trailers, marketing materials, design directions—or whatever else you’re working on—for peer-to-peer review. Bring your own laptop and materials that you would like to distribute. Register your laptop at the door when you arrive.
