Positions at SFIFF53
The 53rd San Francisco International Film Festival takes place April 22–May 6, 2010. The San Francisco Film Society is seeking staff, volunteers and interns to work on all aspects of the Festival. Positions last anywhere from two weeks to four months.

Box Office Cashier
Friendly, outgoing people with the following skills are needed to staff the Festival box office: Excellent customer service; data entry; excellent cash handling skills with the ability to balance; accurate typing; an eye for detail and good spelling. Previous box office experience is a plus, but not required. Must be available to work TBD date in March to participate in mandatory training session before the box office opens.
Approximate dates: March 29–May 6.
Demographic Analysis Intern
Work with SFFS Education on research and data collection of Schools at the Festival screenings and school visits. Responsibilities include monitoring audience attendance, developing tracking systems and drafting summary reports. Must be skilled in compiling, tracking and analyzing data and statistics. Proficiency in Excel, Word and Filemaker Pro a plus.
Approximate dates: February 15 – June 30 (internship may extend beyond Festival)
Executive & Development Intern
The Executive Office and Development Department are looking for a high energy, dependable, organized person to help with high level events and day-to-day administrative activities. The intern would split time between the two departments, providing a chance to get a broad view of the Film Society. Responsibilities include: Interfacing with Board members, consulates, sponsors and donors, requiring a professional demeanor; helping plan and produce receptions and parties for the Festival; coordinating Festival mailings; tracking RSVPs and managing door lists; assisting with general administrative tasks including data entry; researching prospective funders. Requirements: Must be able to work some evenings, especially during the Festival (April 22 – May 6); Detail-oriented, able to take instruction and work with minimal supervision; professional demeanor as the intern represents SFFS when speaking with sponsors and donors; ability to multitask. Proficiency in Mac OS, knowledge of Filemaker Pro a plus. Must have a valid drivers license. Access to a vehicle is highly preferred.

Production Assistant Interns
Interns will be responsible for assisting the Venue Operations Department with the planning, building and running of Festival events and venues. The duties of the Production Assistant intern include but are not limited to: assisting with the operation of the Festival hospitality suite and green rooms, the movement and staging of materials and equipment in and around the festival, assisting with live events (including A/V equipment set up and take down, training provided), helping to maintain a clean Festival environment, and enjoying a dynamic and crucial role in the Festival experience. Requirements are: A positive, friendly, can-do attitude; the ability to lift 50 pounds; a valid driver’s license and clean driving record; good communication skills; the ability to work long hours as necessary, including nights and weekends; an interest in Audio-Visual Production, Live Event Production and Film Festivals; basic knowledge of sound and lighting for live events preferred but not required (we will train!); MUST be a team player and follow instructions well; and a solid work ethic.
Approximate dates: April 19th through May 8th
Publicity Intern
Working under the supervision of the Director of Publicity, learn how the Film Society’s Publicity Department operates by assisting in preparing for and executing publicity campaigns for the International. Conduct research into new media outlets; contact press to establish and maintain relationships; gather and organize materials for film programs such as photos, press kits, and synopses; provide press materials to media contacts and facilitate interviews; maintain video library including labeling, logging DVDs in and checking them out; enter and update data (mailing lists, contact info, etc.) into electronic databases and other computer-based systems; prepare press clippings and assist with ongoing clippings archive project; prepare and send out press releases and press kits; provide onsite event support at festival venues, including screenings, receptions and special events; and miscellaneous projects. Approximate dates: Februarty 15–June 15 (flexible).
