Under Four Trees
Suzanne Cross
The rural community of Mnqobokazi, South Africa, wanted to establish their first school. Mrs. Zikhali, a dynamic young teacher was selected to run the school but there were no classrooms or teaching materials. The first day, ten children came, spread their woven mats on the ground, and began class. Due to her dedication, the school’s enrollment grew. However, Mrs. Zikhali was additionally challenged by the increasing number of orphans and vulnerable children who were hungry and/or suffering. The film follows her journey as she struggles to create a full service school that will also provide food, clothing, and emotional support to the children.
