Past KRF Grant Recipients
The SFFS/KRF Filmmaking Grants support films that through plot, character, theme or setting significantly explore human and civil rights, antidiscrimination, gender and sexual identity and other urgent social justice issues of our time. The grant supports films that have a significant economic or professional impact on the Bay Area filmmaking community. The grants, which run 2009–2013, will be awarded in the spring and fall of each year. The total amount disbursed over these five years will be over $3 million. Read more...

Past Hearst Grant Recipients
The Hearst Screenwriting Grant is given to a mid-career screenwriter who has been a practicing writer for at least five years and who has previously written a minimum of one feature screenplay. The grant is open to writers residing in the United States whose project expresses both a unique personal perspective and an artistic approach to the subject. Priority is given to writers whose previous short or feature screenplays have been produced as an independent film. Read more...

Sponsored by the the Djerassi Resident Artist Program, the Djerassi Residency Award/SFFS Screenwriting Fellowship will provide a one-month residency at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program for an emerging or established screenwriter. Read more...

Past FilmHouse Residents
SFFS FilmHouse Residencies program, developed in partnership with the San Francisco Film Commission and launched in November 2008, supports local independent filmmaking by making office space available free of charge for six-month residencies to independent filmmakers actively engaged in various stages of film production. The newest recipients are working in many different styles and genres and in all stages of production. FilmHouse, part of the Film Society’s expanding filmmaker services, functions as a vibrant workshop and community-builder for local filmmakers of all stripes. Read more...
